Cant visit, but want to know how we keep our dogs? Hear terrible stories on the news about parent dogs kept in tiny cages? Our furry friends, live in large areas, some spaces bigger than what many pet owners offer their own pets, and our guys get to go out and run on our farm .
We love our country life!!

Often families live too far away to visit and they would like to know "how do you raise your puppies". Our mommas stay with their babies at least until 8 weeks old, unless momma decides she has had enough.  Once puppies are at least 56 days old, they can leave here and go live with their new families. By allowing puppies to stay with their siblings and mom for 8 weeks, they learn proper social behaviors and will be easier to live with.

During the time they are with their mommas, they have large (heated in the winter) polydome(made of special plastic the captures heat from the sun in the winter) houses. These are 5 ft in diameter on the floor and almost 5 ft high.  They are vented in the summer and as you can easily see they have doors we can open or close depending upon the weather, and even if closed mom and babies can still choose to hop out and play if they want.

We raise all our dogs and puppies on playground mulch which keeps them dry and clean and is fun to dig in or keep cool when laying on in the summer and warm in the winter, and inside their houses is either hay, straw, shavings or a combination depending upon the weather and age and size of who is using the house.(blankets and towels hold moisture/water and germs and isnt suitable for keeping puppies healthy, clean and dry) Our smallest momma pen is 10ft by 10ft and our largest is 32ft by 32ft. They are all provide with special shade tarps to protect from the heat heavy rains or snows. They have windblocks on the ground and shade trees surround most of our pens to help ensure happy and healthy babies AND mommas. With their large spaces and smart mommas, most our babies housetrain quickly and easily especially when using the crate training method. They leave here crate training started as they already know to keep their sleeping areas clean, thanks to momma!

Mommas and babies are watched closely every day. Their water buckets scrubbed, feeders checked to make sure everyone is eating and doing well. It is during this time and when Kyle checks on them to make sure everyone is well., earlier in the day, they are checked by either Daniel or James whoever is cleaning pens for the day, and about midday they are checked with by Meghan who oversees handfeeding and extra treats or helps puppies transition from mommas milk to dry kibble.. It truly is a family affair
